Meet the Maker

Born from a lifetime of reading labels the hard way

My story starts early: an allergic reaction as a newborn cost me all of my hair, nine years on goat's milk followed, and eczema, rashes, and terribly dry skin chased me all the way into adulthood. Dermatologist after dermatologist prescribed cream after cream — bandaids, all of them.

In 2016 I started a wellness journey and realized everything mattered: what I ate, what I washed with, even the candles I burned. When our family relocated to South Carolina in January 2020, The Turquoise Dor was born.

We began creating products for ourselves, then for family and friends, and the requests kept coming in. Today, everything we make is safe and effective for everyone in your house, from infants to adults.

Honest, pure, and safe ingredients. That's the whole mission. Everything is handcrafted in small batches in our home, and if we wouldn't put it on our own family, it doesn't go in the jar.

Are they really safe for babies?

Yes, our products are created to be used by infants as well as adults, every day, without worry of side effects. This whole company started with a baby's skin, so gentle isn't a marketing word here. It's the origin story.

I have sensitive skin. Will these work for me?

They were made by someone who lived it: eczema, rashes, dry skin, all of it. Every formula exists because the harsh stuff failed us first. If you have a question about a specific product, send us a note and a real person will help you choose.

What is the Be a Light candle-making class?

A $55 hands-on class hosted at Essentials Coffee where you pour and scent your own candle to take home. Seats are limited and our last class sold out, so grab yours early.
